This painting was made to send to Hyeonbum, my sister, as a gift. She sent me a photo of these beautiful flowers in a clay vase gifted from our father. The vase in fact is a jar that used to be widely used in Korea in storing foods, such as kimchi, soy sauce, pepper paste, etc. Growing up in a country side, I have seen every family in our village using this. My sister's photo instantly reminded me of my late grandmother and hardworking mother who were around the jars all the time to feed the big family with so much love.
